Authorizing the Compilation of the Laws of the 'Cherokee Nation. Be it enacted by the National Council: That the Principal Chief be, and he is hereby authorized to appoint two competent persons, one to collect and compile the laws of the Cherokee Nation now in force, together with the acts of the present session of the National Council; and the other to translate the same into the Cherokee language. That it shall be the duty of the compiler to classify and arrange under an appropriate head enactments pertaining to a particular subject; embrace in one act, as far as practicable,,the original acts and amendments thereto, and omit all acts that have been repealed or have become inoperative by ceasing to be applicable to existing affairs, and to prepare an index to the same. That the work above required shall be commenced and accomplished as soon as practicable, and when completed submitted to and approved by the Principal Chief.
